Susan Hildreth

Susan Hildreth is the director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). She has been a library professional for more than 30 years, with experience at the local, state, and now federal levels. She came to the IMLS from Seattle where she was the city librarian.  She served for five years as California’s state librarian and held leadership positions at several California libraries including five years as Deputy Director of the Sacramento Public Library.  She began her career as a branch librarian at the Edison Township Library in New Jersey.
