As a teacherpreneur, Jessica Keigan teaches English at Horizon High School (Denver, CO—Adams 12 district) and also spends part of her week supporting results-oriented efforts to improve Colorado’s schools. Specifically, she is organizing recruitment, advocacy, and new product development for the Denver New Millennium Initiative (NMI) team.
The Denver NMI team is currently focused on the effective implementation of the state’s new teacher evaluation law, and Jessica works alongside the Colorado Legacy Foundation to advance the NMI team’s goals. A Colorado native, Jessica earned her B.A. in English literature from Seattle Pacific University. Jessica earned her certification and master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Colorado at Denver’s Initial Professional Teacher Education (IPTE) program.

Last year, Colorado passed a landmark piece of legislation (SB 10-191, the EQUITEE Act) creating that created a new system of evaluation for students, teachers, and schools in the state. This new law promises to shake up the status quo, inspiring innovation
in how we teach students, and how we prepare and support teachers.
