Swachh Bharat: It's Not Just About Toilets

On World Toilet Day, I joined Vikram Chandra and guests for a conversation on Swachh Bharat, the Government of India’s campaign for a clean India. Among other aspects of the campaign, we discussed the role of the private sector in taking on India’s sanitation challenge. For my part, I believe that the private sector can bring a number of critical skills to bear.

In Batavia, Not-So-Strange Bedfellows

Batavia Local School District entered a partnership with Battelle for Kids to create teacher-led professional learning teams (PLTs), district leaders purposefully paired teachers in different grades and subject levels. Doing so eliminated the temptation to focus on tasks involving curriculum, planning, and common assessments. Instead, teachers could focus on observing each other, developing personalized growth plans, and supporting each other as they put those plans into place.
