Are you an impatient optimist? Are you ready to join a community of impatient optimists?
Impatient Optimists is our brand new blog; our online community space where foundation staff, supporters, and readers, as well as partners and other bloggers—anyone interested in working to solve the most challenging problems of our time—can gather.
We chose the name Impatient Optimists not only because here at the foundation we work hard to reflect the values of optimism, inspiration, and urgency when it comes to the work we do; but also because we want to create an entire community of impatient optimists around the world. Yes, we think big.
We’re thinking really big with this new blog. How else can we make sure that we’re telling the stories, every day, that need to be told—to continue the conversations that help fuel the change we want to see in the world? At Impatient Optimists, we’re bringing to life the faces, voices, and experiences of the global effort to alleviate poverty, promote health and health care access, and find solutions to an ailing U.S. educational system.
Back in April, I introduced myself as the foundation blogger and editor of the blog. I wrote about some of the stories we share in our social media spaces: stories from our partners in the effort to reduce hunger and poverty in our poorest countries, stories about the women who struggle to care for themselves and their newborns in regions of the world where healthcare is hard to come by, and stories about low-income high school students in our own country working hard to overcome a host of hurdles, to graduate prepared for college.
This is exactly what Impatient Optimists is here to do—to share these stories, to inspire, and to make change. Take a minute to become familiar with the site. Read up on the latest, add your perspective in a comment, rate a post you find interesting or enlightening, and share it with your networks. Also, don’t forget to sign up for regular email updates, which you can do on the upper right corner of any page.
If you consider yourself an impatient optimist when it comes to making a better world, we look forward to seeing you here!
