A baby receives a dose of the rotavirus vaccine at the Pantasma Health Center. Rotavirus had previously been responsible for the death and prolonged illness of many children in the developing world. Since the vaccine's introduction in 2006, Nicaragua has seen a 77 percent decrease in very severe rotavirus cases. (Pantasma, Nicaragua, July 2009.)
