Scoring Against Malaria

January 18, 2013

It is no secret that football is one of the most popular sports in the world. Football has the power to unite people and influence them to take a stand for what they believe in.

What I believe in is an Africa free of malaria. Malaria is a terrible disease that kills one child every 60 seconds. I want to help Africa win the fight against malaria, and that is why I've joined the United Against Malaria campaign.

United Against Malaria uses football to communicate important messages about ways to prevent and treat malaria. As we look towards the upcoming 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa, I encourage my fellow Africans and footballers, governments, corporations, health organizations and you to join our winning team. United, we can beat malaria.

Didier Drogba is an internationally known football star and United Against Malaria Champion. He is captain of the Côte d'Ivoire National Football Team and also plays as a center forward for Shanghai Shenhua.
