Renate Baehr is the Executive Director of DSW (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung). She has a long-standing record of successful advocacy, policy, and public awareness-raising work in the field of global health and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Germany and Europe. She played the lead role in establishing DSW’s All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Population and Development in 2003 and regularly advises the German Parliament on issues relating to SRHR. She also serves as a member of the international High-Level Task Force for ICPD.

Improving sexual and reproductive health and rights for young adolescents in Kenya

The underlying causes for adolescent pregnancy and resulting school dropout are complex and include issues such as parent-child communication, gender inequity, a lack of services and high-quality comprehensive sexuality education for young adolescents (aged 10-14 years). With the majority of Kenya's population under 25 years, and two out of every five people under the age of 15, there is an urgent need for change.
