Paul Dowling

For the past five years Paul has led JSI’s supply chain practice in Ethiopia with over 120 staff and annual funding of about US$9 million. He is responsible for overall strategy, client relations and workplan development and implementation. A particular focus is ensuring MIS work addresses supply chain problems. Prior to this he was Technical Director for the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, overseeing all field technical activities.  An experienced public health and supply chain professional, he has an MBA from the University of Maryland (College Park) and an Analytical Science degree from Dublin City University (Ireland). Prior to working in the development sector he worked for several years in the biotechnology sector in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso.

From Semera to Seattle…with real time medicine logistics data

When we first started this work about seven years ago, when customers came to a warehouse in search of their medicines, the pharmacist had to run down to the warehouse to check if they had an item (it took too long to find the stock card). Now they can access the data the same way as my Walgreens pharmacist can. And they can look to see if the stock is available at any of the other warehouses (even if the nearest location might be a day away).
