Yemurai Nyoni

Title Advocate, National Facilitator, Youth Family Planning Ambassador

Yemurai Nyoni is a 22 year old youth advocate for sexual and reproductive health from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He is the National Facilitator of the Zimbabwe Young People’s Network on SRH, HIV and AIDS which coordinates the work of all youth serving organizations in the field of sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS in his country. He serves as an Executive Committee Member of the African Youth and Adolescents Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN), a continental network of youth development organizations, in which he represents East and Southern Africa. He represents young people in the National Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Coordination Forum convened by the Ministry of Health, as well as in the Core Committee of the White Ribbon Alliance on Safe Motherhood in Zimbabwe.

He was recently nominated to serve as a UNFPA Youth Family Planning Ambassador for Zimbabwe, taking the lead in family planning advocacy for young people in his country and within the continent. In ensuring the growth of new youth change makers, he dedicates most of his time to grooming young leaders in advocacy for youth development as an Alderman of the Bulawayo Junior City Council, which is a student-led body moving the agenda of youth empowerment in the city in collaboration with the City Council.
