Do we need to be better about using storytelling when it comes to the sharing the good news about vaccines?
That was the major theme running through our third Gates Social, held on July 1. Gates Socials bring together social media users to learn more about a specific issue, to engage with conversations with Gates Foundation employees and other leaders, and to connect with one another in a learning environment.
Attendees and speakers talked about why, despite overwhelming proof that vaccines are safe and an incredible public health investment, vaccines aren't universally supported. Many of the day's guests noted that personal storytelling might be a more effective way to frame the argument for vaccines than our usual reliance on facts and scientific evidence.
Below is a sampling of some of the day's social media posts. Do you have thoughts on vaccines and social media? Share them here in the comments.
